Creative Dance

Creative Dance offers an enchanting first step into the world of dance for young children. This class focuses on fostering imagination, having fun, and learning essential social skills like taking turns, following directions, and kindness towards others.
Through music tailored to young ears, children explore classical rhythms, forming early connections between music and movement. Creative Dance nurtures a love for dance from an early age, cultivating a spirit of joy and discovery that stays with them as they grow. Parents are welcome to join this class with their children.

Level 1 Ages 4-5 years
Dancers in BALLET I will experience the pinnacle of dance as a fun activity as they learn the basics of how dance class operates. They’ll quickly learn that listening to the teacher, following directions and cooperating in class makes it all the more fun! Among the level I dancers is where we see friendships in the ballet studio truly start to develop. Young dancers can’t wait to see their friends and spend time with them in class.

Level 2 Ages 6-7 years
BALLET II is for dancers who have learned basic skills such as waiting in line and making it through the class without a bathroom break from time spent in lower levels and in school classes. Ballet II is an opportunity for the dancers to continue to have fun in class while starting to spend time and attention on learning the building blocks of ballet technique. They will spend time learning the essential barre exercises and practicing rhythms and coordination that will be developed in years to come. Dance is still fun in level II but now your dancer will start to be more proud of what he/she has learned and the things they can do and understand.

Level 3 Ages 8+
BALLET III represents a significant jump in expectations and teaching emphasis to match the quick development that young dancers undergo between 8 and 10 years of age. Dancers in this level are expected to learn and perform steps with clarity and precision. They will be on stage sometimes as a distinct group and other times as part of a larger group with older dancers. Because this class includes level IV dancers, it is an important part of their adjustment to these new expectations and opportunities.

Level 4 Ages 10+
This class is exclusively for Level IV dancers, offering a mixed-level environment with an emphasis on accelerating their progress while solidifying essential technical skills for advancing to Level V.
BALLET IV represents the penultimate level of technique at Ballet Havasu. Dancers in this level are expected to perform with clarity and precision, participating in both distinct and ensemble performances alongside older dancers. This class serves as a pivotal stage for them to adapt to heightened expectations and opportunities.
Throughout the 2024/2025 school year, Level IV dancers will alternate between classes tailored to intermediate and advanced techniques, fostering their growth and preparing them for future leadership roles within the studio.
Class sessions prioritize technical refinement without compromising rehearsal time for stage performances, which are scheduled separately throughout the week and on weekends as needed.

Level 5 Ages 13+ with placement
BALLET V dancers have reached the final technical level offered for the 2024/25 school year. They are the leaders of the studio and show this by their example of hard work inside studio and their respect for their teachers and the traditions of ballet. They bear the privilege and responsibility of breaking new ground for the studio in artistry and virtuosity. These dancers will be given the best roles and the attention in class and rehearsal required for them to find success on the stage.
Monday/Tuesday/Friday from 6:00 - 7:30
Thursday 4:00-5:30 pm

Pointe/Variations/Male Technique
All level IV and V dancers are encouraged to enroll.
Pointe/Male Technique class is open to level IV and V dancers who wish to push towards performance en pointe, or to further develop and refine their practice of pointe dancing. Boys in this class will be encouraged to participate in the pointe exercises towards greater foot and leg strength and precision. Boys will also be given special training in specific elements of male technique.
Students will be required to take this class in regular technique shoes until approved by the director, in counsel with the teacher of the class. It is important the students are prepared before donning pointe shoes on a regular basis, to prevent injury and formation of bad habits.
